Contact Centres, also known as ‘call centres’, are the backbone of the customer service arm of many industries. They provide a personable way for people to get in contact with many businesses and organisations.

Contact Centre Apprenticeships cover a number of different areas including account management, sales and information retrieval. Job vacancies are available in a wide variety of industry sectors including public service providers (e.g. local councils or NHS). Regardless of the industry in which you choose to work in, the skill set you will gain through a Contact Centre Apprenticeship is largely the same and many of the skills are transferable.

Employees of call centres are expected to be friendly, well informed and helpful, whether it is as the first public facing representative for a company or organisation or helping people deal with situations for the emergency services. The majority of a contact centre operative’s time will be spent answering and/or making phone calls, responding to customers’ emails or responses via other messaging systems. These interactions mean that an excellent phone manner and ability to communicate in writing are essential skills for Contact Centre Apprentices.
