Girls can make a good career from Engineering There are many inspiring stories of women into engineering, stories of women who reach those landmark feats but there also women who achieve their dreams in other ways, who are inspired by engineering itself. I am inspired by curiosity of how things work and hence my attraction to mechanical engineering and physics. It was a serendipitous moment 20 years ago, when I got my first job in an Engineering company that manufactured Springs of all shapes and sizes. I was employed as a specification and orders clerk. My brother had done an apprenticeship – he is a bit older than me – so he guided me as to what I needed to know and what I should be looking for. What do you gain from an apprenticeship? […]

An Apprenticeship allows my to do both of these things. My Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship started with 8 weeks foundation at ATG Training. Following this I go to my employer where I’ll be studying for my BTEC & NVQ. My ambition is to continue learning whilst working towards and achieving an HNC in Mechanical Engineering. When I reach that level I intend to continue my studies and achieve a Master’s Degree, all […]
