Thinking about your options for the future? There’s lots of information around for university applications and course, but where can you go to find advice and guidance on Apprenticeships? There are a few good websites that will provide you with some general information and background on the types and levels of Apprenticeship that are available. Take a look at the National Careers Service website and apprenticeships.org.uk, for example. For further information about what might be involved in a particular type of Apprenticeship category, you can also take a look at our “Focus On…” series of news articles which provide more information on the roles and responsibilities you might expect for Apprenticeships in various areas or industries.
Wherever possible, if you can speak to anyone that it currently on or has recently completed an Apprenticeship, it’s great to hear first-hand about their experiences. On the ATG Apprenticeships website you can also view case studies and videos from some of our apprentices.
When you’re starting to look at specific Apprenticeship vacancies, it’s also good to research the companies to get a better idea of what they do, their values and the projects that get involved with. This will help you get a much better idea of whether they would be a good fit for you, and if so will be really helpful in writing your covering letter when applying for the vacancy and if you are invited to an interview with them.
For more information on the application process for Apprenticeships, take a look at our “Apprenticeship Application Process” series of articles. These cover everything from how to decide if an Apprenticeship is right for you, writing your CV and covering letter and even preparing for your interview.
