The Mechanical Machining Advanced Apprenticeship are for those Apprentices wanting to work in machine shop/toolroom environments. You will become competent in producing metal components using milling and turning techniques.
During the three years that the qualification will take place, the Apprentices will complete initial Foundation training encompassing health and safety training and hand skills so that when the candidate is sent into the work place they are equipped with the basic requisite skills.
ATG will ensure that once the Apprentice is actively in their work placement, they will be visited on a regular basis by an assessor to make sure that the necessary progression is taking place towards the successful completion of the Level 3 NVQ Extended Diploma.
As well as the core pratical skills that the Apprentice will learn, the Apprenticeship will also include Maths and English Functional skills. It is important the Apprentice has the necessary coomunication and mathematical skills to supplement their understanding of their role.
The Level 3 Extended Diploma provides relevant, practical training for a range of Mechanical Machining job roles, including Toolmaker, Manual Machinist and CNC Machinist. Apprentices will learn all the necessary skills to machine products to a high standard and high quality finish, using a range of materials and equipment, in a safe and timely manner.
The BTEC National enables Apprentices to learn about the principles of Engineering, Health & Safety, develop core Maths skills and gain an understanding of the properties of different Engineering materials, as well as knowledge specifically related to Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
