Vacancy Description

This is an opportunity to train with a leading waste water treatment equipment manufacturer, to gain skills and qualifications as a tool maker.

You will be employed as a tool maker learning all aspects of making moulds for the manufacturing process. Duties will include:

• Designing moulds;
• Making new moulds;
• Repairing moulds.

The role would suit a practical person who is ambitious and willing to learn.

While employed you will be working towards the Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering, which includes:

• Level 3 NVQ in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering;
• Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in Engineering;
• Key Skills at Level 2 in Application of Number, Communication and Information Technology;
• Employment Responsibilities and Rights (ERR).

The NVQ, Key SKills and ERR will be delivered in the workplace with an Assessor visiting, following a period of on-the-job training. You will start on the BTEC National Diploma in September 2012 which is delivered at ATG 1 day a week for a period of 2 years.

Skills Required

Technical ability - you must be able to deliver high quality, practical technical service.

Written communication - you must be able to follow written instructions.

Interpersonal skills and verbal communication.

Manual dexterity - you must be able to demonstrate you are practical and can work with your hands.

You will need to be enthusiastic and reliable with a real desire to develop a career in the Engineering sector.

You should be committed to personal career development and further training.

You must be able to work well as an individual and as part of a team.

You should be self motivated.

You must be flexible and willing to take on a range of work activities.

Qualifications Required


Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade A* - C, including Maths, English and Science.
